I’ve been shooting reenactments for a few years now, and this one was definitely the most intense and fast-paced event I’ve done. I usually shoot with a 1945 4x5 Speed Graphic, 1937 Leica IIIa with 135 Hektor, and 1955 FED copy of a Leica II with 50mm lens, but for this event I cheated a bit and used a 1950s 2x3 Speed Graphic with roll film instead of the 4x5. I unfortunately screwed up loading the FED, didn’t realize the film lead came off the takeup spool, and didn’t get any shots with that camera. But I’m pretty happy with the shots I did get, even (or maybe especially) with the poorly-composed 35mm shots taken in the middle of the chaos. The last shot is a cropped medium format, of a tank crewman (simulated being on fire using a smoke grenade) after bailing out of his tank.
