{"id":41121,"title":"Loving the Voigtländer Bessa R3M ❤️","author":"FluffyFoxDev","permalink":"https://www.reddit.com/r/analog/comments/1ptpt6g/loving_the_voigtländer_bessa_r3m/","description":"Thanks to the suggestions in my [previous post](https://www.reddit.com/r/analog/comments/1pov1ot/camera_question_rangefinder_vs_slr) I finally decided to buy myself a film rangefinder and I am loving it!\n\nIt really is a perfect little camera: dense but not too heavy, fully mechanical, has a large and bright 1:1 viewfinder, and the light meter gives you a proper reading instead of just + and - (up to ±2EV in 0,5EV steps). And using a rangefinder for confusing is always fun ^.^\n\nI also got lucky with the viewfinder. The listing said that there were a few scratches and some discolouration, turns out they hadn't removed the cover lens from the viewfinder (it screws in place and can be replaced with diopters), and the \"scratches\" and haze were just some dirt on the inside of the lens that went away with a little water and a microfibre cloth. If you have a Bessa R* camera with a dirty viewfinder then you might want to check that.\n\nThe only real issue I have with it at the moment is the lack of a shutter lock: if you cock the shutter then there is no way to stop an accidental exposure.\n\nAs for lenses, I got a used Voigtländer Nokton 40mm to go with it, and I'm planning on getting a used Ultron 75mm next month, but I am open to suggestions! Ideally not ones that cost more than the camera XD (I am looking at you Leica...)\n\nThanks again to everyone who helped me!","caption":"A black rangefinder camera with a silver lens sits on a wooden surface.","score":138,"nsfw":false,"grayscale":false,"timestamp":1766482342,"created":"2026-10-15T14:56:56.254144Z","updated":"2026-10-15T20:54:23.733295Z","sprocket":false,"camera_make":"voigtländer","camera_model":"bessa r","focal_length":40,"images":[{"resolution":"low","url":"https://i.analogdb.com/c9942efbc8c898f05a5a3fd7-low.jpeg","width":720,"height":540},{"resolution":"medium","url":"https://i.analogdb.com/c9942efbc8c898f05a5a3fd7-medium.jpeg","width":1080,"height":810},{"resolution":"high","url":"https://i.analogdb.com/c9942efbc8c898f05a5a3fd7-high.jpeg","width":1440,"height":1080},{"resolution":"raw","url":"https://i.analogdb.com/c9942efbc8c898f05a5a3fd7-raw.jpeg","width":5712,"height":4284}],"colors":[{"hex":"#d9b48a","css":"tan","html":"tan","percent":0.22469907},{"hex":"#ecc89a","css":"burlywood","html":"tan","percent":0.1787037},{"hex":"#c6a27a","css":"tan","html":"tan","percent":0.15840021},{"hex":"#241c13","css":"midnightblue","html":"black","percent":0.10956533},{"hex":"#090604","css":"black","html":"black","percent":0.09811214}],"keywords":[{"word":"wood","weight":1},{"word":"still life","weight":0.5}]}
