Since the WW2 darkroom weighs about ONE MILLION pounds, I broke out a Durst M300 35mm enlarger that I picked up last year but hadn’t used.\n\nAfter making a few prints with it, I thought, “Wait…I can make 4x5 contact prints with this, right?” I’m sure everyone else knew this, but it was bombshell info to me. I got some basic guidance from a photographer buddy and tried it out.\n\nThe test strips came out so dark, I figured I could only do about a quarter-second exposure, literally a “clickclick” on-off. But I fumbled it and gave it about half a second.\n\nIn the red safelight the print looked so dark I figured I’d just throw it away, but in regular light I thought it looked pretty cool. I love how the light emphasizes only the curves along the back of the model’s body. Picture is a cropped scan of the print, unedited except for some dust removal.\n\nThoughts? Advice?
