Pointed at the North Star with all the other stars appearing to move around it due to earths rotation. Taken during a new moon so it was pitch black out and we actually lost the cameras for a little bit when we went back to find them. We couldn’t use our headlamps at risk of getting the lights in the frame. After stumbling around in the brush for 20min we gave up and went and got a night vision scope to find them. I was very surprised that this photo actually came out well. I took it on my Nikon f100 which does not accept normal shutter cables so I had to shoot in bulb mode with a rubber band and a penny holding the shutter down. At some point during the 4 hours the batteries died in the camera which I assumed ended the exposure. After walking back to the house and putting new batteries in underneath the lights I heard the shutter close. It turned out great so that might have just been the mirror and the shutter actually did close I’m not sure.
