I've never really worked on them too much, but now I wonder why I haven't.\n\nThese photos are actually really important—not only personally, but I also think historically speaking as well. For anybody who doesn't know, this trail is Oneonta Gorge and it's perhaps one of the most breathtaking trails in Oregon and yet, as of today, it is closed and will perhaps remain closed forever. Back in 2017, a HUGE fire started by fireworks swept through the Columbia River Gorge, damaging over 500k acres of land which, in effect, damaged many of the waterfalls in the area—one of which was the gorge part of Oneonta Falls. To this day, the trail is closed and the chances of it getting repaired and opened again are unlikely to be seen in any foreseeable future due to landslides and other treacherous conditions. Even before the fire, this hike already had a somewhat high risk factor to it due to having climb over a very wet bunch of fallen logs and then treading through water that went up to an adult's chest in a pretty narrow gorge. But the trail is **breathtaking**; it's a shame what has become of it.\n\nI took these photos not even a month before the fire began; I'm pretty sure the fire happened just a little over 2 weeks later. I have no idea the groups of people who waded through this trail after me, but at the very least, these images are some of the last photos shot of this trail on film—who knows, they could be the last. Either way, I am so thankful that I was able to hike this trail and capture it before it would eventually closed off, possibly never to be accessible ever again. So in a way, I have literal history in my hands. And that makes me feel so, so blessed.
