So I figured: what's to stop me from slide my negatives around and doing a multi-image merge to get the highest resolution possible from film? The result: A nearly 150 megapixel negative.\n\nThe process was simple:\n\n1. Load the negative into holder and level camera, like you would with any at-home camera scanning setup. Only this time, I got as close as you possibly can with your macro lens. For me and my setup — Canon R5 with a 100 f/2.8 L Macro — the working distance is about 6-8 inches. That gets me *real* close. (3rd photo)\n 1. I set the camera to manual instead of aperture priority, to ensure consistent exposure across the whole negative.\n2. Working in rows, I took 4 images or so for each \"third\" of the negative (3rd photo)\n3. Imported the photos to Lightroom, set the white balance to the film border, and export as 16-bit TIFFs.\n4. I used AutoPano Giga to align the shots and export as a 16-bit TIFF file (4th photo), brought it back into lightroom, and used Negative Lab Pro to convert.\n\nI'm not sure how often I'll use this method, but getting nearly 150 megapixels out of a scan is amazing to see.
