Eventually decided to give her a zorki 4 and Jupiter 8 I think the total amount I spent for the kit I ended up giving her was about £5 plus £4.50 for the film (foma 200) I taught her to use a light meter and the basics of composition (but she's an art historian so didn't need much) then sent her on her way. \n\nThe realisation was that for what is essentially a professional quality kit with scalable high quality negatives the point of entry can be phenomenally low (if you know where to look) we are living in an era where in spite of the sky rocketing interest cameras can be got for less than a drink in a pub. Just that attitude shift away from a phone can improve compositions and images infinitely. And all for in this case a fiver. \n\nYeah I know film is expensive but it's not as if you're going to buy a digital body for the amount spent in a year on film (maybe development?).\n\nThe photo is one I took while demonstrating on my own identical setup how to take images to her.
